We developed a new cellular automata model (named CACEO) that uses cross-entropy optimization (CEO) to reproduce and project urban expansion into coastal areas and to assess urban encroachment on ecological lands. The CEO algorithm automatically searches for the near-optimal CA parameters and is capable of objectively parameterizing CA models to predict multi-objective scenarios. We calibrated CACEO by simulating urban expansion at Wenzhou from 1995 to 2005, validated the model from 2005 to 2015 using real data, and then predicted urban expansion for 2025 and 2035. End-state overall accuracies were 93.8% for 2005 and 94.4% for 2015, while figure-of-merit metrics were 27.9% for 2005 and 19.1% for 2015. We predicted four different scenarios to year 2025 and 2035 (1) a business-as-usual (BAU)-scenario using benchmark settings; (2) a District-scenario based on a district-oriented urban development strategy; (3) a Road-scenario based on a road network-oriented urban development strategy; and (4) a Coast-scenario based on a coast-oriented urban development strategy. Each scenario predicts a substantially different pattern of urban encroachment on ecological land and significant loss of farmland, forest, wetland and grassland. These scenarios should be useful in adjusting urban development strategies at Wenzhou and elsewhere.This work turns the social resilience concept into a practical and tangible set of dimensions and indicators for social resilience assessment. It further provides an analysis of the social resilience concept in the context of flood risk governance. Floods are a worldwide recurring phenomenon that causes severe social, economic and environmental losses. In the context of global change, it is very difficult to accurately predict extreme events that may increase disaster frequency; hence the implementation of social resilience is essential to lessen the losses. Indeed, the right balance between natural and social factors and indicators is yet to be found. Social resilience has been debated extensively for decades, both in scientific and political contexts. It has been a concern in disaster risk reduction and risk governance fields, both of which have strived to implement it. The enlarged conceptual discussion regarding this topic has resulted in some indicator-based assessments that hardly reflect the conceptualis field are identified, which provides the basis to build a comprehensive and coherent analytical framework. Secondly, an original indicators database is proposed in line with that framework. Medline/PubMed, ProQuest, Web of Knowledge, Scopus, Cochrane library, and ScienceDirect were systematically searched to find randomized controlled trials (RCTs). Preferred Reporting Items for Systematic Reviews and Meta-analyses (PRISMA) checklist was used to conduct the study.
Six RCTs were included in the review. Treatment with pistachio nuts exerted a significant reduction in fasting blood glucose (FBG) level (OR=1.7, 95% CI; 1.2-2.4, P=0.002, I=0.0%, P=0.731) and homeostasis model assessment of insulin resistance (HOMA-IR) index (OR=1.5, 95% CI; 1.0-2.4, P=0.043, I=0.0%, P=0.617), but no significant improvement was observed in regard to hemoglobin A1c (HbA1c) level (OR=1.4, 95% CI; 0.9-2.1P=0.089, I=0.0%, P=0.957) and fasting plasma insulin (FPI) level (OR=1.3, 95% CI; 0.9-1.9, P=0.133, I=0.0%, P=0.776).

In this cross-sectional, qualitative prospective study, a questionnaire was administered over the telephone to diabetes patients who had attended National Guard primary care centers in Jeddah, Saudi Arabia. The survey included questions on demographic data, type of diabetes, medications used, comorbidities, medication compliance, and daily habits before and after the lockdown, and those assessing patients' psychological parameters during the past month by using the Kessler Psychological Distress Scale (K10). Data analysis was performed using SPSS program version 26.
Totally, 394 patients participated. All of them had type 2 diabetes, and 37.6% had only one comorbidity. Antidiabetic monotherapy was used in 76.4% of the patients, while combination therapy was used in 23.6%. In this cross-sectional study, 98 men were recruited on an outpatient basis and were divided into low-testosterone (&lt;12nmol/l or &lt;346ng/dl, n=37) or high-testosterone groups (?12nmol/l or ?346ng/dl, n=61). Serum testosterone concentrations were measured by immuno-chemiluminescence. Hepatic steatosis index (HSI) and Triglyceride-to-HDL-C ratio (THR), as non-invasive indices of NAFLD, as well as AST-to-Platelet Ratio Index (APRI), fibrosis-4 index (FIB-4) and NAFLD fibrosis score (NFS), as non-invasive indices of hepatic fibrosis, were calculated based on standard formulas.
